Monograph:Therapeutic Wills - Practical Guidance & Personal Reflections

"First abstract...... David Whiteley"

The clients of professionals who work on their own and have sensitive and confidential information concerning their patients or clients are at risk if that professional suddenly dies or becomes incapacitated. This article tries to set out quite simply how professional people can take steps to protect their patients or clients in such, albeit unlikely, circumstances.

"second abstract.......Sally Openshaw"

Saying goodbye has always been something that I have found difficult. My great, great Aunt Gladys Moreland (aged 96) suggests that it is very difficult to imagine a world in which you do not exist. I agree and yet I decided that I had to think beyond me and beyond my life in order to write a professional will. This article outlines the thoughts, discussions and story of that process. It will guide you, the reader, through a personal example of how I decided to tell people I had died, my thinking about how to choose an executor to close my business, helping them find all the things they need, working alongside a solicitor to produce a will and codicil, and developing a way to name and return property held on behalf of clients. The Appendices will offer some example letters written to key contacts and some questions to ask yourself when thinking through your own personal situation.
